PRESS RELEASE: As Limited English Proficient Population Grows, Certified Languages International Jumps in Rankings Among Language Services Companies

Portland, Ore.-based company named ninth nationally and 37th worldwide on recently released Common Sense Advisory report

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 14, 2015) – Based on a recently released 2015 Common Sense Advisory (CSA) study, Certified Languages International (CLI) ranks ninth nationally – and 37th internationally – among leading language service companies. The CSA surveyed 860 providers around the world to find the leading suppliers in the global and regional markets for language services and technology.

“We recognize the growing need for interpreters in the U.S., and remain dedicated to providing the highest quality service to our clients,” said Kristin Quinlan, CEO of CLI. “CLI is thrilled to have moved up on CSA’s rankings this year and to have the efforts of our interpreters recognized.”

In 2014, CSA ranked CLI as 10th nationally and 44th globally, surveying 831 total language service providers.

According to a recent study by the Migration Policy Institute, the number of individuals considered Limited English Proficient (LEP) has grown 80 percent from 1990 to 2013, representing eight percent of the total U.S. population. LEP refers to any individual over the age of five that does not speak English well, as classified by the U.S. Census Bureau.

With such a large portion of the population requiring language assistance, the need for qualified and technologically advanced interpretation companies is rising. CLI’s over-the-phone interpreting, video-remote interpreting and document translation solutions serve the ever-expanding need for instant communication across all languages.

CLI’s capabilities span more than 200 languages, including languages of limited diffusion, with a professional knowledge of industry-specific terminology. Clients have access to an interpreter all hours of the day and night, 365 days a year, to ensure maximum service.

“The 2015 market for outsourced language services and supporting technology is $38.16 billion, with an annual growth rate of 6.46 percent,” according to the CSA report. “Demand for translated, interpreted, localized, or otherwise linguistically or culturally transformed content comes from billions of people around the world who need written and spoken content in their languages.”
