PORTLAND JOB OPENING: Full-Time Proposal / Content Writer

PORTLAND, Ore. (Aug. 26, 2016) – Certified Languages International is seeking a full-time proposal/content writer to join our team in our Portland, Oregon, office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with and report to Managing Editor
  • Write business proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Coordinate with internal contributors to obtain necessary information and data
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval
  • Maintain quality work product by writing and developing up-to-date proposal template responses
  • Adhere to proposal-writing standards including consistency, accuracy, branding, and tone
  • Develop and maintain proposal support documents


Secondary Responsibilities

  • Develop professional, engaging messaging and content for internal and external communications, policies, documentation, and sales/marketing materials
  • Assist with communication and distribution of content across internal departments
  • Prepare portfolios and presentations for high-profile clients


Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field is required
  • Master’s degree in writing (or related field) and 1–3 years professional writing experience is preferred
  • Proven experience writing clear, concise, compelling, accurate, and grammatically correct copy
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Highly organized with extreme attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to learn new subject matter quickly
  • Ability to think critically and deliver in what can be a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, effectively prioritizing projects
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required
  • Experience with InDesign and Salesforce is appreciated but not mandatory
