The Voice of Independents

CLI is a founding sponsor of the Contract Interpreter Information Center (CIIC). The purpose of the CIIC is to support the use of independent contractors as interpreters and translators in the language services industry. Our goal as the Voice of Independents is to educate and inform the public on the many benefits of using independent contractors. These benefits are appreciated by not only language service providers and linguists, but also by those who employ our services.

The use of independent contractors in our industry is being threatened by legislation that could force language service providers to classify their linguists as employees. The consequences of such a law would have far-reaching negative effects to almost everyone in our industry.
